THE FULL STORY
The SteadyFlow Gate was developed by engineers and agricultural producers to solve some of the biggest challenges regarding water resources. Development included frequent conversations with a wide variety of water users and engineers, prototyping, testing, and monitoring of the first field installations.
The gate is primarily based on the orifice equation and fine-tuned based on testing of prototypes. Since the relationship between head and area is not linear, the arm of the SteadyFlow Gate rotates about a curve that is specifically shaped to compensate for this. Numerous mechanisms were considered, but ultimately, this design was chosen to be the most reliable long term.

Alex Ewers
Founder
Alex is the founder and visionary behind SteadyFlow. The idea for the company was conceived years before it became reality, driven by a clear recognition of a problem that had yet to be solved in the irrigation and stormwater market. Through persistence, technical insight, and long-term commitment to innovation, that early concept evolved into a patented solution in 2016.
Following the patent’s development, Alex partnered closely with the Research and Development team at his engineering firm to bring the concept to life. Their combined expertise transformed a forward-thinking idea into a fully realized product, bridging the gap between theory and real-world application.
Today, Alex continues to guide the company’s direction with a focus on innovation, practicality, and engineering excellence, turning a long-held vision into a tangible and impactful reality.
